Who said cinemas can't be intimate and personal?
What made poor quality, overpriced food acceptable at the cinema?
Why can't we stand up at the cinema and dance to our favourite musicals?
Welcome to Backyard Cinema
It began after an underwhelming trip to the movies. "That movie was great," I thought as I stretched my now aching back, "but why is the cinema just not good enough?" And so, feeling slightly sick from my dry hot-dog and stale nachos dinner, the idea for a homemade cinema was planted. A week later in a North London garden, construction began. Homemade screen crafted from recycled wood, acquired sofas lugged home, grill cleaned and circus lights hung. Backyard Cinema was born.
Everyone came together to the call of this homemade cinema. Friends, family, neighbours - even the odd passer-by - for what became a summer of zombie marathons, cult classics, and compulsory themed, sing-and-dance-a-longs. A busy BBQ sizzled with delicious burgers while ice cold beers were passed into the crowd. The smell of fresh popcorn wafted past as people took their seats.
For three years now we have been bringing Backyard Cinema to the public with the same great ethos but bigger. [PAST EVENTS] Somewhere captivating you can watch a movie with great food, great drinks and all your mates. It should feel like you have been personally invited to our back garden, no matter the size of the event. All delivered to you in a variety of immersive, unusual and interesting locations both in and outdoors around London. Expect retro short films, well known classics and themed nights full of surprises.
This is cinema as it should be, this is Backyard Cinema
More than just the movies.
Dominic
